Robert served in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Power Engineer onboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson during the ‘90s and his career in critical power systems began.
Following a few tours in the Persian Gulf he was honorably discharged and soon became the Lead Acceptance Field Testing Engineer in the Silicon Valley during the dot com boom. Following a time with Cupertino Electric as a Project Manager where he earned his Professional Engineers License, Robert moved to Denver and co-founded Critical Facilities Technology, with him over 25 years of critical power and cooling experience. He is a published author and was named to ENR Magazine’s Top 20 Under 40 Engineers. He was also awarded by the Uptime Institute for Data Center Design in Efficiency and also served as a subject matter expert and presenter at their annual symposium. A self-professed “Gear Head” he can routinely be seen wrenching on anything with wheels, engaging in any number of virtually unlimited hobbies or as the head coach of a youth tackle football team.
Troy began his career in the mission critical business in Atlanta, GA in 1998. He moved to Denver, CO in 2003, where he continued to support the construction market in large commercial projects.
In 2008 he co-founded Critical Facilities Technology. As a partner he brings over 16 years of data center infrastructure design experience to the CFT team. Troy’s focus is on developing long-term relationships through advising and educating Consulting Engineers, Contractors, and End Users. He has been a Board Member / Treasurer for 7x24 Exchange Rocky Mountain Chapter since 2006. He is married, has a son, and lives in Superior, CO. Troy enjoys coaching little league sports and getting a good early am workout each day. He recently bought a smoker and has visions of being the next, great BBQ pitmaster.
Juston partnered with CFT in 2010 to manage the deployment of the University of Colorado Janus Supercomputer facility and soon thereafter became a permanent member of the team.
With 16 years of construction experience, including 5 years as a Project Manager for a national design-build firm specializing in high rise construction, Juston brings a wide knowledge base to the team for application engineering and execution. Aside from thoroughly enjoying the exciting and fast paced world of critical infrastructure design and implementation he loves to spend time with his wife and their two beautiful young daughters, Lauren and Megan. In his free time Juston also enjoys playing guitar, fishing, woodworking and reading.
Susan joined CFT in 2022 and oversees all accounting operations. She brings nearly 30 years of experience in business management, accounting, and human resources across a wide range of industries.
Born and raised in eastern Colorado, Susan attended Metropolitan State University of Denver, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and Human Resources Management. She and her family recently relocated to southeastern Wyoming. Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her horses. She also competes in rodeo events with her daughter and friends, loves to travel, explore new foods, and especially cherishes time with her two grown children, two grandbabies, and her husband.
Starting his career in the dusty desert of Tucson, Arizona, Eric joined CFT in 2016 with 15 years of extensive experience in the electrical & cooling industries, from managing modern data center infrastructure to commissioning large electrical projects.
He’s applied over 50 megawatts of simultaneous load on some of the region’s most critical systems and reported on the performance! Eric works with new & existing clients to create solutions & services for critical power & cooling applications. After moving to the front range in 2012, he has taken to the mountains like a duck to water; he can often be found on various trails & bodies of water throughout the Rocky Mountains. He is a proud husband and father who enjoys quality time with his family and loves a good adventure!
Matt joined CFT in 2020 and brings over 17 years construction experience in industrial and mission critical projects spanning the entire country, from coast to coast.
Matt manages all aspects of the project life cycle, including General Contracting, Owner Representation, Mechanical, Electrical and Site Infrastructure, he has applied his construction knowledge along with his core beliefs in teamwork, communication and integrity to successfully take a broad range of projects from inception to completion. With his wife Amy, two children and the family dog, they can be often found traveling the western United States looking for remote camping, off-roading and the next adventure.
After graduating from Engineering School, Matt jumped into the deep end of the data center industry. Working with teams internationally, Matt managed the delivery of the Electrical Power Monitoring System scope of work at one of the largest data center projects in the world.

After successfully helping turn over 400 MW+ of greenfield and brownfield distribution in the Omaha area Matt and his wife moved to Kansas City where they now reside. While Matt’s titles allude to his time managing projects, he’s been a flex player contributing to engineering, commissioning, field management, business development, operations, and marketing. Outside of navigating the constraints of the mission critical industry, Matt enjoys good beer, good company and good times. Matt started with CFT in 2022
Harlan joined CFT in 2022 with 10 years of electrical construction management and field experience.
Prior to coming onboard, Harlan began his career studying electrical engineering and eventually made a transition to electrical construction. As a master electrician, Harlan applied his field experience into project management roles. In the project management sector he has travelled across the country managing electrical construction projects for some of the world’s largest retailers. When the opportunity arose, Harlan entered into the sales world and has continued ever since. Outside of work, Harlan enjoys relaxing at home with his family, hiking, reading, chess, and playing billiards. He especially enjoys bedtime reading with his 1-year-old son.
David joined CFT in 2023 with 15 years of experience in the construction industry, primarily in general contracting. Growing up in Northeast Iowa, he chose Iowa State University in Ames to pursue his engineering degree.
After graduation, David was recruited to the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, where he took on a traveling project management role. His success in managing complex projects and nurturing strong relationships naturally led him to transition into sales, where he continues to build on those connections in a new capacity. Outside of work, David and his wife, Brooke, enjoy spending their free time outdoors—camping, cycling, taking photos, spending time with their dog, and discovering new favorite spots with friends. A fun fact: David is a devoted Folgers coffee drinker and proudly admits he probably consumes more of it than anyone else you know (for better or worse).
Skye began his college career at the Missouri University of Science and Technology as both a baseball player and student before returning home to Nebraska to complete his athletic and academic journey at Doane University. He graduated in May 2022 with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, along with a minor in Computer Studies.
At Doane, Skye served as Project Manager for three different design projects through the Doane Engineering Group, including the design and implementation of a Metallic Thermal Imaging Test Grid for Exmark Manufacturing. Following graduation, Skye joined Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing as a Manufacturing Project Engineer, where he worked across all consumer product vehicles, including Mules, Side by Sides, Jet Skis, and Four Wheelers. Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Skye is a lifelong Husker. He enjoys working out, golfing, playing pickleball, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Will graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business Administration. He began his career as a general contractor, gaining exposure to a wide variety of projects including medical office buildings, schools, fire stations, retail spaces, industrial facilities, and site developments throughout Colorado’s Front Range.
As a project manager, Will oversaw and executed budgets, schedules, contracts, and material procurements. His mission is to serve as both a leader and a professional collaborator for clients and his team—guided by careful planning, clear communication, successful execution, and a healthy dose of laughter along the way. A Colorado native, Will enjoys playing golf, exploring state parks, and lending a hand with car maintenance and repairs for friends and family.
Jason joined CFT in 2023, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the electrical and data center industry. With a background as an electrician, data center engineer, and project manager, he has built a career centered on supporting and maintaining business continuity in mission-critical environments.
A Colorado native and graduate of Colorado State University, Jason earned his electrical license before transitioning into the data center industry in 2008. He takes pride in cultivating strong professional relationships and has built a reputation for excellent customer service and dedication to both clients and colleagues. Outside of work, Jason enjoys mountain biking, playing guitar, reading, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Holly, and their two children.
Megan Guillory, a Colorado native, has spent the past 15 years supporting the construction industry in accounting and administrative roles. Her experience spans diverse markets, including housing, data centers, airports, prisons, schools, and government and military bases.
Growing up in Colorado Springs, Megan often attended Air Force football games and developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Colorado. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys working out, reading, and cherishes time with her husband, Kevin, and their three young children.
Michael Laughlin joined CFT in 2024 as an Inside Sales Representative. Michael previously worked in the environmental regulatory field with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the City of Jacksonville, where he inspected and regulated fuel storage tanks.
Before entering the regulatory and sales fields, Michael was a fly-fishing guide in Northern Idaho, an experience that fostered a deep appreciation for precision, patience, and customer-focused service. These skills translate directly into his sales approach, where building strong client relationships and understanding their unique needs are paramount. Outside of work, Michael enjoys golfing, playing guitar and ukulele, watching the Kansas State Wildcats, and exploring the world through fly fishing. His passion for the outdoors and dedication to building connections enriches both his personal life and professional endeavors.
Mitch comes to CFT with extensive electrical distribution sales and engineering experience. Most recently handling large contractor sales for electrical distribution in Denver.
Mitch obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from the University of Colorado. and then jumped right into sales, starting with sales in the Denver craft beer scene. He also sold vintage Italian car parts and then moved into electrical distribution sales. This experience has cultivated his expertise in relationship building, complemented by a personable demeanor and a strong ambition to excel in sales. With his wife, Erinn, and their two dogs, he loves camping, hunting, off-roading, restoring his 1974 BMW, golfing and just being outdoors in general.
Paul served in the United States Marine Corps as a Communications and Information Systems Specialist before transitioning into the private sector, where he worked in IT and cybersecurity sales, as well as in state and federal government roles.
A graduate of Villanova’s IT Project Management program, Paul has led projects and programs in facilities and data center operations. He is passionate about veterans’ causes and remains active in the VFW and several community service groups. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his family.
Ty Mata brings a strong background in sales and project management, combining strategic thinking with clear communication on every initiative. A graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato with a degree in Communications, he has built a proven record of successfully leading projects and developing lasting client relationships.
Outside of work, Ty stays active playing hockey, golf, and pickleball. He also enjoys traveling, exploring new destinations, and spending quality time with family, friends, and his dog, Maverick.
Austin Sexton joined CFT in 2025 and serves as a Service Sales Manager, supporting clients with critical power solutions across Colorado and the greater Denver area. He brings more than a decade of experience in the electrical and power industries, holding both Colorado and Oklahoma electrical licenses.
Before joining CFT, Austin worked in Sales, Project Management and Supervisor roles for ASCO Power Technologies, DVL Group, Intermountain Electric, and HollyFrontier. He began his career as an electrical apprentice with OESCO eventually becoming a Foreman and running complex projects in the oil and gas industry for many years. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Austin combines technical knowledge with a customer-focused approach to build lasting relationships and deliver value-driven results. Based in the Denver Metropolitan Area, he continues to expand his impact in the power technologies space.
With 25 years of experience in the electrical industry, Craig Petersen brings deep expertise and a proven track record to his role as Service Sales Manager. His career blends technical knowledge, sales leadership, and operational excellence, allowing him to translate complex engineering solutions into clear business outcomes.
Craig has partnered with customers across data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, and commercial enterprises, delivering tailored solutions in power systems, backup infrastructure, and mission-critical applications. Known for his consultative and results-driven approach, he has built a reputation for earning trust, driving growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. His leadership style is centered on collaboration, innovation, and a relentless focus on client success. Outside of work, Craig enjoys exploring new restaurants with his wife and spending time with their six children, supporting them in everything from sports and music to academics and beyond.
